Paddy and Marie’s Wedding
An Eaves Hall Wedding in Clitheroe
An Eaves Hall Wedding in Clitheroe
On the 9th of March we headed over to Eaves Hall in Clitheroe to perform at Paddy and Marie’s wedding. The whole shindig was organised by Nikki and her team at I Do Designer Weddings (www.idodesignerweddings.co.uk/) who were absolutely great in booking us and making sure everything was in order. By the time we arrived at Eaves Hall everybody was in a great mood, and after the day’s celebrations we knew it was going to be a fantastic night!

We began setup in one of the smaller rooms because it was a fairly small wedding by usual standards – around 60 guests in total – but the smaller ones are often the best! It’s just a little more personal, I think. We met Nikki from ‘I Do’ as well as Paddy and Marie and they were all lovely. We were setup inside of an hour.

After setting up we secluded ourselves away for a little while to catch our breath and we lucked out on a great little room. We even had our own snooker table! Our mood was high already and the guys had not even hit the stage yet. Dave, Ben, Tom and Liam started their vocal warm-ups and wired themselves up with their personal monitoring systems ready for 8pm when they were due to begin their first set.

DJ Andy Leigh did a great job of getting everybody upbeat and ready for a good old-fashioned party. The guys jumped in the stage area and things were set. They opened with ‘Let’s Twist Again’ at the request of Paddy and Marie (a great choice) and the night was off to an energetic start!

Paddy and Marie’s guests were definitely up for it, and the first set went really well. The old classics like ‘Johnny B Goode’ seemed to be going down a storm. Every crowd’s different when it comes to music, but the guys are experienced enough to alter the set list on the fly and play what the crowd wants, an important factor in getting everybody up dancing.

After the first set we all had some food and the guys got ready for set two. Paddy and Marie seemed to be really enjoying their night. As we never get to see the ceremony, the night is what’s important to us. We want it to be the best night of any newly married couples’ lives and so, of course, we do our best to make it absolutely awesome and as memorable as possible!

The guys kicked off set two with Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, a nice slow intro back into the swing of things. When the second set is flowing people are always ready for an arms-in-the-air jump around, so the big hits like ‘Sex on Fire’ by Kings of Leon and ‘Mr Brightside’ by The Killers were injected in to kick things up a gear. It was a great deal of fun and the set was flying by quickly!

For the final song the guys had all the guests gather on the dance floor. Everybody held hands and danced together. The whole night went off without a hitch and the second set was a perfect end to the evening. Paddy and Marie had a great final dance together and the guys were really happy with their performance.

With the second set done we began pack-down which usually takes about an hour. We managed to grab a few bacon butties to help us along (which really did help!) but time was knocking on, so we jumped in the van at 1:30am and we made our way home to Doncaster ready for a 3:30am arrival, which is common-place for us.

It was a great night on all accounts; a huge congratulations to Paddy and Marie, and a special thanks to Nikki from ‘I Do’ for booking us. Eaves Hall is a great wedding venue and it was the perfect setting for the newly married couple. Like I said, the smaller ones are often the best!
Until next time,
